If something sustains, it continues over a period of time. Living things grow. Sustainable growth for an organization requires leaders to act as a catalyst. What’s crucial, then, is to understand the nature of catalysis.
Although many things have changed over the years, the fundamentals of execution, management, and governance remain the same. The industry (both private and public sector) is littered with failed complex business and technology initiatives such as the Healthcare.gov launch.
For me, to unplug is to give up craving, to live mindfully, to move toward nirvana (Sanskrit for “complete liberation”).
When it comes to innovating business models for health-care delivery, it appears we have failed to keep pace with clinical advances, and surprisingly with most other industries.
Between trying to survive, lead, and create with multiple simultaneous projects, it’s been a busy year. I am often asked how I manage to keep it together.
Each one of us is on a unique journey. I don’t know about you, but throughout most of my life, for whatever little successes I have had, it has been about putting most of my energies toward that last 10 percent.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a political leader, an entrepreneur, or a corporate CEO. Regardless of title or industry, your message matters. All leaders must communicate the right message at all times.
